These stairs seem to go downwards for miles… how long have I been descending at this point? With each step I feel the air surrounding me growing colder, and my surroundings dimmer. It takes me a long while to finally notice dozens of lights illuminating a room full of glistening technology. The air is near freezing as I find myself walking down rows of servers, lights aglow and wires allowing information to travel through the advanced mechanical wonders surrounding me.
I find myself distracted with the sight of all the machinery encircling me in what seems like endless rows of data. They really put a lot of work into maintaining this place and keeping Ell1s functional for many years to come. This room is much cleaner compared to the rest of the facility as well…
I remind myself of the task at hand and begin searching for a way to shut them off. I could probably try disconnecting wires, or dismantling some of parts holding them together. But there’s so many of them, will it really work?
I remember a couple of documents describing the nuclear energy this facility runs on, so just a few slip-ups could be bad. But because of the numerous safety measures and procedures in place, it should provide me with enough time to escape. This place was created with the idea in mind that hundreds of humans would be able to stay here safely, so if something were to go wrong, I’m sure there should be enough time to evacuate.
If I’m going to die risking my life, at least I’ll die trying. Trying to escape from this place and looking for anyone who might be left in this world that used to be so full of life. I can heart my heart beating louder as I try to decide what I should do. I don’t have much time before I risk being caught.
I’m sorry it has to end this way.
I can’t go back now.
