Girls' Last Tour is a manga series written by Tsukumizu, which also received a 12-episode anime that covers around the first 4 volumes of the manga. It's about two girls who explore a desolate, snowy wasteland together in their Kettenkrad as they try to survive and reach the highest level of the city.
It's about finding hope even in a barren world that has been destroyed by war, and the little discoveries that make life brighter. Even if very few humans are left as a result, Chito and Yuuri, the 2 main characters, speculate about the old world to pass time and make the most out of what they can. Despite the depressing nature of it all, and the exhausting explorations they go on to reach the highest level, it's a uplifting story that has a lot of deep meaning.
Tsukumizu's works have always been an inspiration to me, and I've been in love with Girls' Last Tour ever since I started reading it. I still remember crying after finishing the manga. No spoilers ofc, but I absolutely love the messages that it conveys. Finding ways to be happy even in the bleakest of times, in a desolate, depressing world. The anime's soundtrack and Tsukumizu's artstyle is also amazing, and I've rewatched it so many times...
I also recommend reading Shimeji Simulation! It's another manga written by the same author.

Girls' Last Tour also heavily inspired one of my OC universes, Lament ✿ Circuit. I really like the idea of making the best out of life even in a bleak, desolate wasteland, as well as the challenges that come with it. I may have included quite a few subtle references within the story. And drew a little AU of Calista and Lena as Chito and Yuuri. :]
Now that I think about it (and that as I'm writing this, I'm almost done with the final chapter), I should really draw this AU more often. I like to imagine how the story would've gone if Calista hadn't died, and she explored the barren wasteland together with Lena. There's a lot of similarities in their personalities and Chito and Yuuri's. Yuuri is carefree and enthusiastic, like Calista, but Chito can be stubborn and more composed, like Lena. This entire shrine was kind of just an excuse to rant about GLT and how it inspired my favorite OCs.
